Adobe Audition Crashing Repeatedly

$

OSX 10.14.6 iMac 2019 64gb RAM, 3.6 GHz Core i9

Adobe Audition CC 12.1.2.3

I've been using Audition for over a decade, every day, for several hours a day, and I've never encountered this before. Audition has been crashing every few minutes or so for the past couple of weeks. It seems to happen especially when I work very quickly, particularly when I ripple-delete a clip in Multitrack, though that's not the only scenario. I'm certainly nowhere near maxing out my computer's resources, so I'm boggled.

I've tried switching up the plugins I use to no avail. I use Audition for voiceover sessions, and my current multitrack effects rack chain is:

RX 6 Mouth De-Click

FF Pro-Q 3

Millennia NSEQ-2 (Plugin Alliance)

RX 6 De-ess

Millennia TCL-2 (Plugin Alliance)

UAD Teletronics LA-2A Legacy

Hardware is an Apollo Twin via Thunderbolt 2, and there are no sample rate mismatches or anything overtly obvious. It's been costing me a lot of time, and I could really use some help here.

Thanks!

Effects Rack Presets have vanished

Hello - I'm really hoping someone can help me with this...

I use Audition for several hours every day. About a week ago I finally installed Audition 12 after using Audition 11 for a long time, and everything migrated over perfectly. But then earlier today I shut my computer down (after saving everything and closing Audition as normal) and then when I just turned it on again and opened Audition, suddenly all my custom effects racks are empty. I tried opening Audition 11 and I got the same result.

To be clear: All of my individual custom named effects are still there, and all my plugins are still there, and all of the effects racks that come built-in as Favorites still populate properly - but when I open any of my custom effects racks, they're just empty. None of the individual effects are there.

I'm running Audition on a Windows 10 desktop that I've been using for a couple of years - I've had other problems with Audition before, but never this. The only thing I did differently this time was that after I shut everything down I unplugged the power bar from the wall because there was a huge lightning storm approaching and I didn't want to take any chances.

It would be quite a pain to have to rebuild all my racks - does anybody know any way of getting them back?

Thanks,

Brian

Why is Audition So Sluggish for Me?

I'm running the latest version of Adobe Audition CC, on Windows 10, 32GB or RAM (which I never come close to using all of), on a machine with an Intel i7 7th generation 4.2Ghz processor. It runs smoothly for most operations I do. Even simple things in Audition are fine. But once I get a big session going with lots of life effects, things really grind to a halt. This is understandable, but I'm wondering if there's something I can to to alleviate the huge lag time I end up getting every time I hit play in a session. It becomes so laggy that it's incredibly frustrating to use. I mean, a 4 or 5 or 6 second delay, every time I want to hit play.

I keep all my files on the SSD C: drive. Is that better than a secondary standard HDD?

I avoid using effects like Full Reverb and Reverb and others like that coded red. I use almost no VST plugins.

What can I do to speed things up? Is my CPU just too slow?

Any advice welcome! And I'll answer any probing questions you may have.

Thanks, AA community!

Trying to open a .wav file, and keep getting Error Code: 65

I've looked around in the forum, and I haven't seen a post with this same error code. I'm just learning Audition- so please bear with me if this question is goofy!

I'm trying to open a .wav file that has a split track in it, because I want to pull the audio from just one of the tracks. But I can't get the file to open. I keep getting the following:

Error: This file is not supported by libsndfile.  Code: 65.  Error in WAV/W64/RF64 file. Malformed 'fmt ' chunk.

Is there something that I can do to fix this, or is this sort of file just not editable in Audition?

Trying to move generated noise into a multitrack session

I am trying to move a Pink noise I generated into a multi-track session. However, after transferal into a multi-track session, it normalizes the noise, and results in sounding different from how it sounds in waveform editor. Is there a way to retain the DC offset from the waveform editor into a multi-track session?

Creating A Shortcut Just to Open a 3rd-Party VST Plugin Effect Screen?

$

I just installed a 3rd-party VST effect bundle - Accusonus ERA. I am using these tools quite a lot, but in order to access them, I have to go through multiple layers of directories in the Effect menu. For example, I open the Effect dropdown. Then I hover over "VST," they I hover over "Restoration," then I hover over "Accusonus," then I hover over the actual effect I want to open it. That's pretty darned involved and takes up precious time.

Is there a way I can set up a shortcut to go straight into the Accusonus folder and see all those tools? Or maybe to actually just open the ERA Noise Remover, for example. I don't want to APPLY the effect via a shortcut (as each file will often need different treatment). So "Recording" a FAvorite wound't work. But I'd love to be able to just directly open either the main Accusonus folder to see the tools, and then click on one, or to have a different shortcut for each of the 6 ERA tools. Is this do-able?

Thanks!

Silencing Spaces In Between Vocal Phrases?

$

How can I completely silence the sections between vocal phrases? I find myself doing this manually, which as you can imagine, takes forever. And I did try the noise gate(s) in the Dynamics Processing section. But that was much too complicated, and it seemed to affect all audio (I saw even the vocal parts come down in volume when I applied one of the presets).

All I would like to do is select any area of the recording that is less than, say, -30 or -40 dB, and completely silence it, leaving the actual vocals alone.

This sounds like a traditional gate. But I'm having trouble finding anything that simple in AA just now. I must be missing something.

Thanks!

Auto split clips based on marker or silence

Edit a multi track podcast,I want to have Auditon automatically split the tracks in the mutli-track editor where there is s silence. Now I've been able to use the diagnostics panel to create markers for each track and import those into the multitrack, but can't seem to automatically split the tracks at these marker points. Is there anyway to do this, or does it just have to be done manually? The end results would look something like the attached (which I have done manually).

Select and perform operations on multiple markers at the same time

Hi,

I'm using Audition CC 2017. I'm currently working on a project that requires narration. I wanted to apply markers on a single track and later select all the markers at once to perform operations on it like Amplitude, Filter and EQ or Fade envelopes. But not on the rest of the track.

How do I select all the markers on the track at once without selecting the rest?

Please help.

Export Multitrack Mixdown Produces Silent Files

MacPro 2008, Mac OSX El Capitan, Audition CC 2017

I have many Adobe Audition multitrack sessions, from which I need to export the individual tracks as WAV files.

I have followed the instructions to use Export > Multitrack Mixdown > Entire Session and then selected both Stereo Mix and all the individual tracks in the session for export in the Mixdown Options. Everything looks as though it is working, but when I import the resulting files into any other audio program or try and preview them in the Finder they are all silent - both the complete stereo mix and all the individual tracks.

The original sessions were created using different audio hardware, but changing the routing on the Mixer page allows me to use the built-in optical output of my mac to monitor the audio. I have each individual track routed to "Master" and the Master output routed to the built-in digital output.

When I play the session in Audition I can hear all the tracks being played back, so I don't think it is a routing problem.

The first session I tried exported fine without me changing anything. I simply selected Export and I had tracks full of the required audio. Since then I have only been able to get one other session to export, and then only after so much fiddling that I lost track of what I had changed.

I suspect that I am missing some very basic setting, but as I am not really familiar at all with Audition I don't know what.

Any ideas?

Stereo Channel Disabled from Premiere Pro Export

I exported a PP Multicam timeline to Audition for editing and mixing there. Allot of tracks came across, some stereo, some mono. Some of the clips in the mono tracks are stereo with one or the other channel disabled. The disabled channel cannot be Enabled. Why? And how do I defeat this?

I have tried moving one of the clips to a stereo track; but nothing I have tried or have looked at seems to be of any avail. In the Edit view, I can see the other track's waveform and data. I just can't Enable it?

How to move all tracks from one session to the other

I was editing with premiere, then opened that project with audition, created new tracks, and edited the audio. Then I kept editing the video on premiere, and created an audition session from that project. Now i want to move all the new tracks and edited audio from the old audition session to the new one. How should I go about doing that?

Lowering dB to below -3

Hello all!

I'm an audio book Producer for ACX, but I have yet to figure out how to make my job easier. The audio file's Total RMS must be between -23 and -18 dB, which raises the True Peak significantly. I was wondering if there was any way of targeting all of the "wave crests" (my sound wave vocabulary is limited, sorry) that exceed -3 dB and making them all lower to about -4 dB all at once? Currently, I'm going to every single crest and lowering the dB by hand.

So basically, is there any way to lower all crests above -3 dB at once?

Thanks in advance!

Delete all markers together with audio in one click, stop this madness please!

I have a big collection of 1 hour long audio files with their corresponding CSV files containing no less than 400 markers each, I need to delete all audio parts where the markers are, I've been doing it manually like this (double click marker + click on editor + delete key, repeat):

DeleteMarkerAudio.gif

Is there a smarter way to do this very basic operation? Imagine doing this for hundreds of files, I can't stand this madness anymore, this is ridicolous, this should be a normal feature of Adobe Audition, I looked at the forums and there're lots of users that have this same problem or variants of it (ie. do an operation only where markers are located) since 2015! It's a normal operation, it's something everyone needs at some point, it's not a niche or special feature, it's common sense that any professional audio editing software must have it. Someone please make a plugin for it or something, I beg you, thanks for your kind attention.

Change "ah" to "oh": possible?

$

This might be impossible, but I thought I'd ask. I frequently have to edit the audio (or video with audio) of my husband speaking bilingually (45 minute Bible messages going back and forth between English and Japanese). He's a native English speaker, so that part is fine, but when he is speaking Japanese, he has a habit of mispronouncing some words that should have a long O sound (e.g. "cope") with /ɑː/ instead (e.g. "cop"; "ah" as in "father") or half-way between the two vowel sounds. Sometimes I can find another place where he said the same syllable correctly and splice it in, but the pitch is almost never the same so it sounds a bit disjointed, and sometimes I can't find a decent replacement at all and have to just live with it. The current message I'm working on has three such mistakes within less than a minute!

So I'm wondering if there is something I can tweak in the frequency spectrum or something, so that the ah sound more resembles oh. A common word he does this to is "honto" (meaning real or true), saying it more like "hanto". It's common for Americans - if you think about Lone Ranger's sidekick, his name is spelled Tonto, but everyone pronounces the first O more like ah (YouTube example). Is there a way in Audition to fix something like that?

I'm New!

Reviewing a few tutorials I have not found the answer to what I am sure is an easy solution to my problem.

I laid down a music track in waveform. Saved it. I then inserted that track into a Multitrack session. I previewed it, It played. I edited it. When I went to play the track. Nothing. I can't get the edited track to play. I've explored around but to no avail. I am certain it is a simple oversight but I am new and trying to learn my way around. Thanks for any helpful advice.

Hi,

I seem to only be able to have effects slots available for my track in the Mixing panel and not the Editor. How come?

Native Effects have started crashing Audition

For some reason suddenly, if I try an apply anything from Auditions effects and processes - EQ, Compression, etc etc, Audition crashes immediately.

Any third party plug-ins seem to be fine!

Nothing has changed on the MAC. I am running the latest OS and have been for a while.

I'm using Audition CC ver 6, bought as a stand alone. And yes I'm very happy with it (until now!) and not really wanting to enter into the creative cloud bit for this app just yet.

Any help, appreciated.

Dynamic link video not updating when changed in Premiere.

I've used Premiere for years but only recently started learning Audition. In the tutorial it shows that video changes (but not audio) made in Premiere will automatically update via dynamic link to the reference video in Audition. In the Lynda.com tutorial the instructor demonstrates this, however, this is not working for me.

I did see in older forum posts that others have had this issue, but that was from 2015.

Dynamic Link between Premiere and Audition not truly dynamic?

Is this still an issue?  What can I do to get this to work?

BTW: I have made sure both Audition and Premiere are updated to the most current versions.

Problem with distorted sound when using microphone in Adobe Audition CC

$

Recently purchased Adobe Audition CC 2019.  Currently using both Adobe Audition and Garageband for recording music and vocals.  Using Zoom R24 and Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 as my interfaces on both software programs.

Problem:  Using both an omnidirectional mic and a condenser mic.  When I record a vocal track with either mic through either interface in the Garageband software, the vocals come out sharp, clear and normal sounding, no issues or problems.  HOWEVER, when I do the same using Adobe Audition, the resulting vocal tracks sound somewhat distorted, not at all normal sounding.  The best way to describe it is they come out sounding almost slightly doubled and as if they were recorded in a closet.

Discussion:  I have examined all the settings etc. that I am aware of on Adobe Audition as well as my interfaces to see if I am doing something wrong, but I can't find anything obvious.

Question:  Has anyone else had this problem?  Any suggestions on how to solve this?  Adobe Audition won't do me any good if I can't record without the track sounding distorted.

Any help would be very much appreciated.
